The project study entitled "Rice Grain Collecting, Winnowing and Bagging Machine" aimed to integrate the collecting and bagging process of sun - dried grains to decrease the time consumed and the number of workers required to perform the collection. The machine also has the winnowing system which separates the unwanted particles from the collected rice grains before it slides to the rice sack using the suction of a mechanical blower. This process improves the quality of the rice grains as well as prolonging its life.
Having rice as the main staple food of the majority of Filipinos, Rice farming manifests and is scattered around the archipelago. However, due to large amounts of demand, agricultural processes like the collection of grains after sun drying and even the health risks produces on the local farmers due to dust while collecting remained unfocused. Furthermore, traditional Rice Grain Collection consumed a lot of time and certain amount of workers is required in order to do the job thus asserting the researchers to be focused in creating a solution: the focal purpose of this research.
After conducting a series of performance test, the proponents had proven that the design was successfully made and the intended operations can be executed. The Rice Grain Collecting, Winnowing and Bagging Machine can collect 27.36 cavans/hr of sun - dried rice grains in average. This includes the time consumed on the reloading of rice grain sacks. It can also separate 38.68 percent of unwanted particles from the collected rice grains while creating clean air exhaust that gets rid of the health risks they face due to dust inhalation while collecting. After considering the findings obtained, the proponents recommend further improvisation on the design to increase its efficiency, boost its capacity and be more convenient for the operator that will utilize the machine.
