This study presents the design and implementation of a Smart Air-Conditioning
System equipped with adaptive fan control and keycard integration, aimed at enhancing
energy efficiency and user comfort in indoor environments. Conventional air- conditioning systems must be understood and accepted that they consume a lot of energy
due to the operating mode varying at a constant temperature and without concern about
the presence or absence of occupants in the room. As a response to this, one brilliant
invention came up with the arrival of the system: one's involvement of at least
temperature and occupancy sensors with the microcontrollers and a keycard access now
activates or deactivates that system, depending on real-time presence detection. An
adaptive fan control automatically lets such fan usage operational according to ambient
temperature readings that maximize airflow and reduce reliance on the air conditioning
unit. The system was also tested in a field setting, specifically for the ESEP 21A room, within the Technological University of the Philippines Manila. Results show better user
comfort and stability in temperature. Wireless connections between modules of the
system and modular design allow an easy scale-up and facilitation of system maintenance. Although faced with complexities in installation and limitation by the keycard to use, it is
an energy-efficient smart cooling.
