520 3# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. "This study aimed to find out the Organizational Performance of the Department of Education (DepEd), Schools Division of Paranaque in Response to ASEAN Integration during the school year 2017-2018 in terms of the following indicators: Profile of Teachers and School Heads, and the Strategic Priorities of the ASEAN 5 —Year Work Plan in Education (2011-2015). The respondents are the 26 school heads, and 301 master teachers and teachers in all the 26 elementary schools in the Schools Division of Paranaque City. <br/>The researcher made use of teacher-made questionnaires which were refined and validated by the panel members. The statistical treatments used were frequency. percentage, weighted mean, standard deviation, and regression analysis. The following are the strategic responses of the DepEd in the ASEAN Five-Year Work Plan in Education. Both the school heads and the teachers have moderately high level of awareness on ASEAN integration however both of them have a high extent of advocacy for equal opportunity in education. Almost all the schools have the DepEd initiated programs and projects. School partnerships are very evident in all schools. One school has ASEAN website. Seventy-six percent of the teachers use ICT on irregular basis. Six schools share their library resources, databases, and learning portals. There are schools which have scholarship programs and provide guidelines for building ASEAN into the teachers' training curriculum. There is a significant difference in the responses of school heads and teachers in the extent of advocacy for education with a t-value of 2.996 with a p-value of .003. Both respondents advocates for education however it could be noted that teachers are more into it since they are the ones who are in the front line of the delivery of education. However, there is no significant difference however in the perception of the school heads and teachers in their level of awareness on ASEAN integration with a t-value of -.118 at p,-.907. The result of the study shows that teachers training in environmental education, disaster risk reduction management, HIV/AIDS, and child protection significantly predict the governance towards ASEAN integration. The beta coefficient 0.673 indicates that providing training to the teachers implies good governance of the school heads towards ASEAN integration. The hypothesis stating that there is a significant difference between the perception of the school heads and the teachers on the performance of the DepEd towards ASEAN integration is ACCEPTED. The hypothesis stating that the person-related factors. the DepEd strategic responses towards ASEAN integration, significantly predict the organizational performance, is PARTIALLY ACCEPTED. It is recommended to strengthen ASEAN integration awareness through lessons and school activities, celebration of ASEAN Day, putting up of ASEAN 1111 corners, and attending seminars/trainings and international conferences on ASEAN integration concepts- Author's Abstract "
