| Summary, etc. |
"Manual systems in libraries struggle to cope with the current demands in information requests and find it hard to manage with the volume of borrowers' inquiries about books and other library resources. Thus, this study presents the used of RFID in library management system, as well as the broader accessibility through the Android mobile application. It also offers handling and managing library routine processes that are generally not available in other library management systems, in particular, the capability of library consortium associated with different libraries to share resources. First, the framework of the study between the front end and back end of the system was synthesized. Then different evaluators were surveyed about the way the library management system functions. Functionality, usability, reliability, performance and security model was used to classify the system quality attributes and Kruskal-Wallis was used to test if there are statistically significant differences between the evaluations of the group of respondents. The functionality, reliability, performance and security were evaluated perfectly acceptable with a weighted mean of 4.73, 4.58, 4.66 and 4.63 respectively. Furthermore, the usability was given an acceptable evaluation rating with a weighted mean of 4.50. The overall quality of the system was given a perfectly acceptable with a weighted mean of 4.62 thus proves that the library management system was successfully designed and developed. Also, the FURPS highlight the features set and capabilities; human factors, overall aesthetics, and consistency; accuracy of output results and the ability to recover from failure; response time and efficiency; and the security of the overall system. However, there is no significant difference on the perceived acceptability of the respondents in terms of FURPS. The used of RFID was successfully implemented in the library management system that led to precise location of books. The web and mobile application was succesfully developed in managing library resources and tasks. Lastly, libraries should, however, carefully evaluate other system functions and other library tasks when considering library management system. <br/>Keywords: Library Management System, Library Consortium, RFID Technology, Android Mobile Application, FURPS.
