Summary, etc. "This study is focused on the design and development of a Smart Crowd Management System for LRT1. It applied hardware prototyping and engineering design process as a framework to build the system. It is comprised of a station prototype and multi-platform software applications for LRMC system administrator, station supervisors, train operators, and LRT1 passengers. The station prototype is concentrated on the system's capability to measure crowd density with the use of IR sensors, smart card/NFC reader/writer, and Atmega328P microcontroller. The desktop applications for admin and station supervisor are focused on providing a configurable crowd control management interface which includes passenger limit counter, station and train crowd status update, announcement and messaging service, and train whereabouts. The Android application for train operators is focused on train navigation, location tracking, and incident reporting. The cross-platform mobile application for passengers is focused on providing commuters real-time information update on crowd volume status per station, estimated travel time from one station to another, and announcement notification. A Simulation software was developed to test real-time operations of multiple trains and stations. Integration and acceptance tests showed that all components of the system are functioning properly according to the predetermined design specifications. The Smart Crowd Control Management System proves to be functionally acceptable in terms of suitability and accuracy, and highly functional in terms of security. Thus, the overall system is highly functionally acceptable as perceived by the LRMC management. Furthermore, Friedman test proves that the perceptions of the respondents in terms of functionality do not differ from one another based on the computed asymptotic significant value of 0.219, which implies that the design framework of the study can be feasibly implemented.<br/>Keywords: Mass Transit, Crowd Control Management, LRMC, LRT1, Automated Passenger Counting, Mobile Application, Windows Application, Smart Card Technology, Infrared Sensor, Arduino Microcontroller, Internet of Things (IoT).Author's Abstract"<br/>
