Summary, etc. Expired donations present a challenge for charitable organizations. Although donations of goods are altruistic, expiration dates introduce complications. Items past their expiration cannot be distributed, resulting in resource wastage and additional burdens for charities sorting through unusable donations. While OCR performs admirably in handling donation receipts containing text, it falls short when it comes to
expired goods. Given that expiration dates are typically printed directly on the products, implementing image recognition technology tailored to identify these dates could enhance sorting efficiency for charities managing donated items. Existing studies have concentrated on utilizing image processing for categorizing donated items. Our research fills a crucial void by focusing on the difficulty of identifying expiration dates on donated goods through image recognition techniques. An ISO 25010:2011-aligned survey addressing functionality, performance efficiency, reliability, usability, and portability was used to assess the study, involving twenty individuals from diverse backgrounds. Results showed that the Automated Donation Machine using Image Processing effectively addresses the challenge of identifying expiration dates on donated goods. By leveraging image recognition technology, the system enhances sorting efficiency for charitable organizations, thereby reducing resource wastage and the burden of handling unusable donations. The survey, conducted according to ISO 25010:2011 standards, demonstrated the project's effectiveness and user satisfaction. The prototype received an overall rating of 4.4802, classified as "Very Good," with high marks across all evaluated categories: functionality (4.56), performance efficiency (4.361), reliability (4.38), portability (4.59), and usability (4.61). These ratings underscore the system's robust performance and its potential to significantly improve the donation management process for charities.

Keywords: image processing, OCR, donation, expiration date, automated
