Pesticide residues are distinguished by high levels of environmental persistence and<br/>toxicity to both humans and animals. Several farmers utilize various pesticides, including<br/>organophosphate insecticides, and malathion is among the most used pesticides. In this<br/>study, the researchers used egg yolk powder carbon quantum dots (EYP CQDs) to detect<br/>pesticide residues in eggplant fruit by synthesizing a commercially available egg yolk<br/>powder using a hydrothermal method, water extraction, dialysis, and filtration. The<br/>prepared nanomaterial was chara.cterized based on their morphology, chemical and optical<br/>properties, and stability using microscopy and spectrophotometry equipment. The EYP<br/>CQDs showed bright blue fluorescence under UV light at 350 nm wavelength and were<br/>used to detect trace concentrations of malathion pesticides by its fluorescence quenching.<br/>In a small amount of volume, EYP CQDs showed fluorescence quenching properties in<br/>different malathion concentrations, which proved that the synthesized nano-sensor is<br/>sensitive. Furthermore, it can be a good sensor for environmental and food safety<br/>monitoring. |
