Summary, etc. Engineered wood products including particle boards have huge global demand requiring<br/>enhancement for end users’ benefits. This study produced particle boards using Bamban<br/>Grass Stem (BGS) and Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR). The BGS and UPR were<br/>fabricated into a Particle board utilizing hand tools for manual methods of preparation of<br/>raw materials from harvesting to pulverizing and drying. The board density is 0.8 g/cc with<br/>five mix design ratios of 46:54, 48:52, 50:50, 52:48, and 54:46 of UPR to BGS manually<br/>mixed and cured for three days. Test results following the Philippine National Standard<br/>(PNS) showed satisfactory values on Internal Bond (IB) with 54:46 design obtaining 1.47<br/>MPa against 0.28 MPa of PNS, 52:48 design with Relative Density (RD) of 1.96%<br/>compared to PNS maximum value of 10%, 52:48 design of most minor Thickness Swelling<br/>(TS) of 1.68% against PNS 12% maximum value, and Water Absorption with 50:50 at<br/>24.07% water absorption against 40% limit. The minimum values of PNS for Modulus of<br/>Rupture were not met with 5.82 MPa versus 10.5 MPa. Similarly, only the 54:46 design<br/>passed the maximum value allowed in the Moisture Content Test with 12.2% compared to<br/>14%. However, the result of the Technological University of the Philippines Evaluation<br/>Instrument comprising 42 respondents shows the particle board is “Very Acceptable” with<br/>a mean rating of 4.26. This metrics concludes that the BGS and UPR at the mentioned mix-<br/>design ratios can create a particle board with room for improvements to increase its mechanical properties and acceptability.<br/><br/>Keywords: Bamban, Polyester Resin, P-GP REG, Particle Board, Engineered Wood Products
