The danger that electricity brings results in inconvenience, particularly for the parents in
every household with children. An electrical outlet is one of the main reasons for the
electric accident that happen in some houses. This research project entitled “Development
of Safety Sliding Anti-Electrocution Outlet” was conducted to develop and fabricate an
electrical outlet with a safety feature that is designed especially for children. This research
aims to prevent or minimize the accident due to the experimental and impulsive mind of
every child where they can place their tiny finger or any conductive material to the
electrical outlet receptacle slots. The curiosity of young ones, unfortunately, can result from
an unwanted incident, like being electrocuted by inserting a receptacle conveniently sized
conductive material that can cause electric shock where there is a big possibility of
resulting damage to properties and can also cause death or injuries. The project prototype
has two important part which is the not energized and energized part. The outlet receptacle
will not be powered unless someone inserted a plug pin into it, then slide the adaptor to the
energized part. Fortunately, the prototype is designed where the adaptor cannot be slide
and still not energize if only the one slot has inserted material. Safety Sliding Anti -
Electrocution Outlet features are a special switching method, red LED indicator light,
contains an electric fuse, and hook locking. Based on the results gathered in terms of
prototype testing, the strength, safety lock, durability, flexibility and special power
switching method, indicator light, and double line fuse per outlet are all working and
functional. While the results of the conducted project prototype evaluation from the
different respondents in terms of functionality, aesthetics, workability, efficiency,
economy, and safety are majority given of “Highly Acceptable”. It is concluded that the
performance and design of this project prototype have a great help for ensuring the safety
of the children when it comes to using electrical outlets at home. The prototype also uses a
fuse to provide additional safety features when overloading or a short circuit happens. |
