| Summary, etc. |
The study entitled Development of Wireless Pen Mouse, aimed to develop a multi-purpose
pen mouse that will provide convenience and user-friendly features for people, especially
artists and designers who use mouse mostly to their work. A device that may be used on
computer as a pen mouse, on tablet and phone as a stylus, and on presentation as a laser
pointer. The prototype is triangular in shape for a better grip that also lead the user to have
proper posture while using the device on their work. It is electronically operated to ensure
all the built-in features of the device works properly and smoothly. Using this device will
lessen the difficulties in an ordinary mouse and at the same time reduce muscular pain
experienced by the person inclined with graphic design jobs. The researchers’ main goal is
to make an ergonomic pen mouse with an attachable stylus cap and laser pointer. The
proponents gathered fifteen (15) respondents composed of ten (10) students and five (5)
professionals to test and evaluate the project based on its functionality, aesthetics,
workability, durability, economy, safety and saleability. The researchers also conducted
different tests in terms of surface compatibility, responsive range, and the comparative test
between the prototype and existing device. The device obtained a grade of 5 equivalent to
the descriptive rating of “Highly Responsive” in surfaces such as paper, chipboard, mouse
pad, and skin. In terms of distance responsiveness, a grade of 5 with a descriptive rating of
“Highly Responsive” is achieved from a distance of 1 meter to 4 meters and graded 4 with
an equivalent descriptive rating of “Very Responsive” from a distance of 5 meters to 7
meters. Proving that the prototype is compatible to any surfaces, responsive up to 7 meters
and more effective than the existing device used in graphic arts industry. In the evaluation,
the mean rating of the seven (7) criteria are 4.73 for functionality, 4.53 for aesthetics, 4.90
for workability, 4.77 for durability, 4.73 for economy, 4.94 for safety and 4.73 for
saleability. The prototype was graded highest in workability and safety having the mean
rating of 4.92 which proves that the prototype is working effectively and user-friendly. The
project gathered an overall mean rating of 4.76 which falls on the range of the scale of
“Highly Acceptable” by the respondents. |
