One of the major problems of automotive engineering in Technological University of the Philippines<br/>Quezon Extension Campus is a training equipment that can be used to acquire knowledge and<br/>practice learned skills about automotive air-conditioning. The main objective of the researchers is<br/>to develop an automotive air-conditioning training unit as an additional laboratory training<br/>equipment in the university in the field of automotive and refrigeration and air-conditioning. The<br/>automotive A/C training unit is mounted on a frame for easy viewing. It is composed of dash<br/>vent which include evaporator, thermostatic valve, blower, induct switch of three speed of fan<br/>blower, thermostat, condenser assembly, compressor driven by induction motor via V belt and<br/><br/>flexible hoses for piping connection. The study shows the current flow of an automotive air-<br/>conditioning cycle, actual trouble shooting and repair through applying proper procedures<br/><br/>of the modules which includes, flushing, leak testing and refrigerant charging. The electrical<br/>system of the unit is supplied with 12V battery aside from induction motor which is supplied with<br/>electricity of 220V. The testing of the prototype is made to determine the functionality of the<br/>automotive air-conditioning training unit. The overall result shows the prototype is effective by<br/>its workability and good performance as training equipment for the students on their actual<br/>performing and practicing of flushing, leak testing, vacuum and refrigerant charging, trouble shooting<br/>and repair. Based on the evaluation of result, the project received an over-all mean of 4.37 with the<br/>descriptive rating of “Very Good” in terms of seven (7) evaluation category. Overall, the function<br/>and the process of the system are the same but limited on the charge of the refrigerant. Furthermore,<br/>the researchers recommend innovation and upgrades to level-up and improve the training<br/>equipmentforthebenefitofthefutureusers. |
