This tracer study assessed the employability variables of BSHRM alumni at the
Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) in Manila from 2011 to 2018, as well
as the status of former students and the efficacy of the curriculum. This study was
conducted on graduates of TUP’s BSHRM graduate degree programs and their feedback
on their educational experiences at the university. The data were gathered by sending online
questionnaires to graduates with active email accounts and using social media platforms
such as Facebook and Instagram to reach respondents. The Raosoft Calculator was
employed by the researcher, and the suggested sample size was 174. The total population
of Bachelor of Science in Hotel Restaurant Management graduates from 2011– 2018 was
317; only 100 respondents answered the survey. Researchers employ multiplication and
division to obtain the percentage of the sample size due to the unequal number of graduates
each year. For the demographic profile of the respondents, 68% were male and 40.0% were
female. The profile age of respondents was evident, making up 45.0% of the age group of
28–30 years old, and 35% fell within the age range of 31–34 years old. Profile according
to year graduated: the majority were in the years 2011–2014 with 55.0%, followed by the
years 2015–2016 with 32.0%, while graduates from 2011– 2018 experienced a variety of
economic and social conditions. Profile according to highest educational attainment: 95.0%
are college degree holders and 5.0% are master’s degree holders. 72.0% were single, and
28.0% were married. To assess the teaching and learning in the BSHRM program of
graduates in terms of teaching instructions, the overall mean of
4.33 has a verbal interpretation of strongly agree. Quality 4.10 has a verbal interpretation
of the agreement. Student activities that obtain a 4.28 have a verbal interpretation of
strongly agree. Employability profile of BSHRM graduates: 95.0% were employed, 49.0%
were in the rank and file, and 37.0% were supervisory level. Respondents answered about
the type of nature of company line to food service (30.0%), while 47% responded to
barriers to getting a job regarding issues with salaries and benefits. 13.0% obtained relevant
skills and knowledge. To assess curriculum relevance to present job indicators, a 4.17
weighted mean was recorded as equivalent to verbal interpretations of agreement. Attain
the lowest weighted mean of 3.95, which is relevant to respondents’ jobs. An overall mean
of 4.05 indicates these needed to be attended to and evaluated, according to the verbal
interpretation. The result of this tracer study will determine the status of BSHRM alumni
from 2011 to 2018 and allow for possible applications of making progress and
enhancements to the curriculum.

Keywords: Employability profile, BSHRM graduates, Curriculum relevance, Curriculum
Enhancement Plan |
