Summary, etc. The impact of transformational and transactional leadership styles on employee retention is the main objective of this study, especially concerning nurses working in private tertiary hospitals in the National Capital Region (NCR). A survey questionnaire was answered by 371 nurses, and to determine whether this two-leadership style made an effect towards their decision to remain in their current work positions, it was evaluated using a quantitative, descriptive-comparative method. According to the result, transactional leadership, which comprises establishing clear goals, providing incentives, and actively monitoring employee performance, had a higher effect on employee retention than transformational leadership. Nurse retention was less successfully influenced by transformational leadership, which promotes creativity and problem-solving. The study highlights the importance of building a balance between these two leadership styles to be able to handle the challenges varied by the nursing workforce. Healthcare organizations can lower employee turnover and maintain patient service consistency by combining the best aspects of both approaches to create a more encouraging and supportive work environment.

Keywords:
Transformational leadership, Transactional leadership, Employee retention, Nursing workforce, Private tertiary hospitals.
