520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This study aims to determine the challenges faced by working students at the Technological
University of the Philippines - Manila who are employed in the Business Process
Outsourcing (BPO) industry. The growth of the BPO sector has made it a significant source
of employment, attracting students with flexible work schedules and financial
opportunities. However, balancing academic commitments with the demanding nature of
BPO jobs poses significant challenges. The research investigates the demographic
characteristics of working students and examines how these factors influence their ability
to manage dual responsibilities. It focuses on time management strategies such as
prioritization, scheduling, and adaptability, and assesses the levels of stress experienced,
including emotional, physical, environmental, and psychological stress. The study also
identifies major challenges, such as financial pressure and time constraints, and their
impact on academic performance. Using surveys the findings reveal that while some
students struggle with exhaustion and competing responsibilities, others demonstrate
resilience through effective coping mechanisms like self-monitoring and strategic
planning. A significant relationship between work-related challenges and academic
performance was observed, highlighting the need for tailored support systems. The study
underscores the importance of institutional interventions, such as flexible class schedules,
mental health resources, and academic advising, to help students navigate their dual roles.
For BPO employers, the findings suggest creating work arrangements that support student
employees. Policymakers are encouraged to develop strategies that promote work-life
balance. By addressing these challenges, this research contributes to enhancing working
students' productivity, well-being, and long-term success in both academic and
professional domains.
Keywords: Financial Pressure, Time Management, Academic Performance, Challenges,
Stress Level
