The waste composition in Las Piñas City consists of 55% biodegradable material,<br/>33% recyclable material, and 12% residual waste, necessitating effective waste<br/>management strategies. This capstone project focuses on redeveloping a plan to produce<br/>Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Reinforced Concrete Paving Blocks for Camella Homes<br/>IV-A Park. A key objective of this study is to educate the community about repurposing<br/>PET waste through a seminar, promoting sustainable waste management practices. The<br/>production of concrete paving blocks adhered to ASTM C902 standards. Among the<br/>various mix proportions tested, Mix 3 (M3) with 0.5% PET content demonstrated superior<br/>compressive strength and was utilized for mass production. These paving blocks were<br/>subsequently installed in the designated area of the park. Community engagement was<br/>further encouraged through workshops on waste management and the creation of paving<br/>blocks. The results highlight the potential for sustainable practices, waste reduction, and<br/>active community involvement. Future research directions include expanding PET<br/>recycling initiatives on a larger scale. |
