Summary, etc. The Philippines faces increasing concerns over frequent seismic events, including<br/>the potential occurrence of "The Big One," a large-scale earthquake associated with the<br/>Marikina Valley Fault. This study evaluates the effectiveness of base isolation systems in<br/>mitigating seismic risks for building structures, focusing on San Gabriel I Elementary<br/>School in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite. Two structural models were developed using<br/>ETABS: a bare structure and a modified structure with Lead Rubber Bearings (LRB) as<br/>base isolators. Pushover Analysis and the Capacity Spectrum Method (CSM) were<br/>employed to assess the seismic performance of both models. Ground motion data from<br/>PHIVOLCS were processed using Seismosignal and Seismomatch for spectral matching<br/>based on UBC 1997. A capacity curve was generated from the pushover curve through<br/>FEMA 440 EL, showing the roof-level displacement and base shear. Performance points<br/>for the models were determined using response spectra, and fragility curves were<br/>developed to estimate the probability of collapse damage states. The analysis revealed that<br/>the X-axis of both models demonstrated greater strength than the Y-axis. The structure<br/>equipped with LRB showed superior seismic performance, with higher base shear capacity<br/>and reduced displacement compared to the bare structure. Damage states determined<br/>through CSM indicated that the LRB-enhanced model experienced significantly lower<br/>damage, ranging from "Moderate" to "Slight" along the X-axis and "Extensive" to "Slight<br/>to Moderate" along the Y-axis, compared to the bare structure.
