Summary, etc. This study evaluates the structural performance of J-Bolt connections made from<br/>Kawayan Tinik (Bambusa blumeana), focusing on the effects of varying bolt diameters and<br/>the presence of mortar infill. Using laboratory experiments and finite element analysis (FEA)<br/>via ANSYS software, the research addresses the growing demand for sustainable<br/>construction materials amid a projected global population of 9.7 billion by 2050. Bamboo,<br/>with its rapid growth cycle and reduced environmental impact, presents a viable alternative<br/>to carbon-intensive materials like steel and concrete, particularly in the Philippines, where<br/>housing demand and natural disasters pose challenges. A quantitative approach was adopted,<br/>testing six T-Joint bamboo samples across various bolt diameters, with a total of 36 samples.<br/>Compressive and tensile strengths were evaluated per ASTM D5652-21 and ISO 6892-1<br/>standards. Results revealed that bolt diameter significantly influences the tensile and<br/>compressive strengths of T-Joint bamboo connections. While splitting failures were observed<br/>in all bolt sizes, 12 mm diameter bolts exhibited superior performance, with reduced<br/>likelihood of punching shear failure and no bearing failure, achieving the highest ultimate<br/>compressive load capacity (34.28 kN). The findings affirm bamboo's potential as a<br/>sustainable building material, aligning with green construction principles. ANSYS<br/><br/>simulations closely mirrored laboratory observations, validating the structural behavior of J-<br/>Bolt connections. It is recommended to use 12 mm bolts with mortar infill for optimal<br/><br/>performance. Future research should explore the long-term durability of bamboo connections<br/>under diverse environmental conditions and the integration of other sustainable materials for<br/>resilient and eco-friendly infrastructure.
