| Summary, etc. |
The study, Development of Adjustable Heat Resistant Welding Gloves, provide
a welder with great levels of comfort and safety so they can easily utilize them
while welding. On the perspective of the welder, the Development of
Adjustable Heat Resistant Welding Gloves are composed of two types of
fabrics namely Cowhide Leather that has high resistance capacity into heat, and Silk Fabric that has cooling effect. Due to the poor fabric quality, it was
discovered that the actual existing gloves was a safety risk for welding. The
other materials that are used are Zipper used to lock and unlock the prototype, the prototype was made to fit the welder's comfortability using a Velcro strap, and Polyester Thread used to stitch all the materials that are all manufactured
using locally available and accessible materials as per predefined materials. A
test was done utilizing the prototype " Comparison of typical gloves and the
prototype when it comes from heat resistivity" the test result showed that
using the existing gloves is not efficient for welding activities but using the
actual project is safer and more comfortable. And the other test was " Heat
resistant capacity of the gloves after exposed to heat temperature using E- 6013 electrode in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) " It shows the
effectiveness of the heat resistance and the cool down effect of the prototype, the testing wherein the materials have been exposed to heat temperature to
prove the high temperature capacity to resist heat of the prototype. The test
was designed to determine whether the prototype met acceptable standards
for functionality, durability, safety, economy and ergonomics. The
acceptability of development of adjustable heat resistant in terms of
functionality 4.62, durability 4.60, safety 4.52, economy 4.39, and
ergonomics 4.37, overall garnered 4.50 with descriptive rate “Very
Acceptable” on the gathered data from respondents by using the survey form. This signifies that the project is useful to all welders and training center in
terms of welding process. The project was evaluated by 38 evaluators
composed of thirty (30) welding student and three (3) instructors at the
Technological of The Philippines and five (5) professional. |
