This study aimed to develop an Instrumentation and Control Trainer to address the skills gap<br/>in electrical engineering education by providing hands-on experience with industrial control<br/>systems. The trainer was designed and fabricated with customize and special function<br/>including electrical components for power and control system, programmable logic<br/>controllers, switching and actuation of pneumatic mechanisms, sensors and flow<br/>measurement tools, pneumatic components, indicator devices, and a durable stainless-steel<br/>frame, all constructed parts using locally available materials. The research methodology<br/>involved the following: a systematic approach to design, component selection, fabrication,<br/>and comprehensive testing. Functionality testing verified proper operation approach for<br/>individual components, while trial testing across multiple iterations confirmed system<br/>reliability across all modules: motor control (Direct On Line system, forward/reverse<br/>operation, adjustable motor speed using Variable Frequency Drives), pneumatic, fluid flow,<br/>lighting, and temperature control systems. Evaluation using TUP's instrument yielded<br/>excellent ratings across most criteria: Functionality test (4.61), Aesthetics design (4.53),<br/>Workability or performance (4.64), Durability or stability (4.77), Safety (4.57), and Salability<br/>(4.68), with Economy (4.46) rated Very Good. The overall mean of 4.61 (Excellent) validates<br/>the trainer's effectiveness as an educational tool. The trainer successfully integrates industry-<br/>standard components from leading manufacturers, creating a comprehensive platform that<br/>bridges theoretical knowledge and practical application in instrumentation and control system.<br/>This project study provides to enhance industry skills gaps by providing an effective training<br/>platform that closely replicate real-world industrial automation systems. |
