E-SMAQ or Efficacy of Smart Aquaponics System is conducted to ensure<br/>efficiency and redevelop SMAQ. This system will be deployed to Payatas Controlled<br/>Disposal Facility upon reopening with the goal of fostering ecotourism by establishing<br/>climate-friendly livelihood projects. To track important factors for Nile Tilapia and<br/>Romaine Lettuce growth, this project focuses on developing a technology-based aquaponic<br/>system that is integrated with sensors, actuators, and ESP32 as the microcontroller. To<br/>maintain a healthy environment for species, important variables are monitored, including<br/>pH level, dissolved oxygen, water temperature, light intensity, air temperature, and air<br/>humidity. Also, for water quality and pH level, SMAQ is equipped with an enhanced<br/>filtration system composed of Mechanical, Chemical and Biological filters. Real-time<br/>monitoring shows that the pH level ranges from 6.52 - 9.03 which is within the standard<br/>parameter. Also, upon manual testing, results show a greater value of SMAQ’s Nila<br/>Tilapia’s Parameters such as length, width, and weight while SMAQ’s Romaine Lettuce<br/>data shows drastic greater value in terms of height and width over the traditional setup.<br/>Efficacy is tested through data of growth performance using the Mann-Whitney U test for<br/>both species’ parameters that shows Significant Difference with z values of -5.18 in length,<br/>-3.97 in width, and -3.31 in weight for Nile Tilapia, and z values of -6.64 in length and -<br/>6.64 in height for lettuce. Hence, the Smart System improves efficiency, lessens the need<br/>for manual intervention, and offers a sustainable solution to the problems facing urban<br/>agriculture by integrating automated technologies. |
