This study aimed to address the challenges faced by Bachelor of Technical<br/>Vocational Teacher Education – Electrical Technology (BTVTED-ET) students at<br/>the Technological University of the Philippines – Manila, particularly the lack of<br/>adequate instructional materials in the Renewable Energy and Conservation Lab<br/>(ETECH-4L). The objective was to design, develop, and evaluate the satisfaction<br/>levels of respondents towards a photovoltaic (PV) system mock-up to enhance<br/>hands-on learning experiences in PV system education. A design-based research<br/>methodology was employed, consisting of four phases: problem identification,<br/>solution development, iterative refinement and evaluation, and synthesis of design<br/>principles. The mock-up was designed to simulate off-grid, on-grid, and hybrid PV<br/>systems, as outlined in the course syllabus. Iterative testing involved 40<br/>participants, including students and course facilitators, to ensure alignment with<br/>learning needs.<br/>The findings revealed significant improvements in comfort, accessibility,<br/>safety, maintainability, and storage of instructional materials. Respondents<br/>expressed satisfaction, supported by a weighted mean score of 4.59 on the Likert<br/>scale, indicating a "highly satisfied" level of satisfaction. These results demonstrate<br/><br/>the mock-up's value in addressing the identified challenges and enhancing hands-<br/>on learning experiences. This innovative instructional tool provides a practical<br/><br/>solution to improve technical-vocational education, benefiting students, educators,<br/>and institutions by bridging the gap between theory and application. |
