This study, titled "QC Kabahagi Center for Children with Disabilities: A Proposed ILRC<br/>Specializing in Learning and Intellectual Disabilities for Children with Special Needs in Quezon<br/>City," aims to investigate the educational circumstances and developmental tools' availability for<br/>children with special needs (CSNs) and their families in Quezon City. Despite studies showing<br/>substantial CSN enrollment in mainstream schools, there's inadequate preparedness for their<br/>integration. Quezon City, the most populous in the National Capital Region (NCR), has only one<br/>government-owned special needs center, the Inclusive Learning and Resource Center (ILRC).<br/>The proposed ILRC is intended for District IV in Quezon City, specifically along Quezon Avenue<br/>in the CBD. After thorough site selection, analysis, and legal considerations, this research justifies<br/>the proposal for a government-owned ILRC in the chosen location over others. Employing a<br/>mixed-method approach—quantitative, qualitative, and descriptive—the study gathered and<br/>analyzed data. Surveys and interviews involved 191 respondents (71 caregivers of children with<br/>IDs and 120 for LDs), with interviews using Purposive Sampling and surveys with QC Kabahagi<br/>Center specialists using Criterion Sampling. The collected data was tabulated, analyzed, and<br/>interpreted. The study's results support the establishment of an ILRC specializing in IDs and LDs in Quezon City. |
