The TUP CAFA Learning Resource Center is a vital component of the<br/>College of Architecture and Fine Arts at the Technological University of the<br/>Philippines Manila. By introducing the rotating bookshelves with geometrical features<br/>known as GEO360, it aims to enhance the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the<br/>Learning Resource Center. This shelf is an innovative and dynamic addition that<br/>does not only provide practical storage for books, but also serves as a visually<br/>stimulating feature like the rotating shelves and motion sensor lights that addresses<br/>the spatial limitations of the LRC. The process of this design involved<br/>comprehensive research and conceptual development, followed by the creation and<br/>evaluation of a functional prototype where it can accommodate its users.<br/>Using a mixed-method approach, the study conducted a respective total of 50<br/>respondents to test the effectiveness of the prototype to evaluate it in an inequitable<br/>basis. The findings underscore that the responses from the students and the faculty that<br/>have knowledge and experience in designing, prototyping, fabricating, and in any field<br/>related to architecture rated the GEO 360 Bookshelves as Highly Acceptable with a<br/>weighted ranges mean of 4.00% in terms of functionality with 4.40%, workability 4.43%,<br/>durability 4.43%, aesthetic and appearance 4.38% and lastly, its safety with<br/>4.06%. The results show that it provides a significant benefit to the students, faculty<br/>and visitors that use the LRC thus, mitigating drawbacks on their academic related<br/>performance. Overall, the study confirms the GEO 360 Prototype was a valuable<br/>addition to the learning environment in the TUP CAFA Learning Research Center<br/>(LRC). |
