This study investigated the effect of integrating ergonomic safety practices<br/>into woodworking instruction on the performance of second-year Industrial Arts<br/>students at the Technological University of the Philippines–Cuenca, Batangas<br/>Campus. A quasi-experimental research design was employed using pre<br/>assessment and post assessment with controlled and experimental groups. The<br/>experimental group received woodworking instruction that incorporated ergonomic<br/>safety practices such as proper body posture, appropriate workstation set-up, safe<br/>tool handling, and organized workspace management, while the controlled group<br/>continued with traditional woodworking instruction.<br/>Data were collected using a researcher developed questionnaires that<br/>measured ergonomic awareness, application of ergonomic practices, and<br/>perceived effects on student performance. Descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon<br/>Signed-Rank Test were used to analyze the data. Results revealed that the<br/>experimental group demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in<br/>ergonomic awareness, application of ergonomic practices, and overall student<br/>performance after the intervention, whereas the controlled group exhibited only<br/>minimal changes. The findings confirmed a significant difference between the pre<br/>assessment and post assessment results of the experimental group, indicating the<br/>positive effect of integrating ergonomic safety practices into woodworking<br/>instruction.<br/>Keywords: ergonomic safety practices, woodworking instruction, industrial arts<br/>students, student performance, quasi-experimental design |
