Summary, etc. This study aims to determine the strength performance of bamboo reinforced hollow spiral column with an internal confinement bamboo culm. The bamboo species to be used is Bambusa blumeana. Nine hollow bamboo reinforced columns were tested under axial compression load which are grouped based on the nominal diameters of the bamboo culms; 60mm (D60), 70mm (D70) and 80mm (D80) hollow columns which are compared to three traditional solid concrete spiral columns in terms of compressive strength and ductility. The bamboo reinforcement ratios are kept to a constant among the specimens, with a reinforcement ratio of around 4%, with an equivalent steel ratio for the control specimens. Also, a separate pullout test was conducted to bamboo splints to determine the effectiveness of linseed oil treatment with wrapped G.I. wire for the bond strength to concrete of the bamboo splints. The result showed that the G.I. wires should be well-wrapped to bond well with the splints. Furthermore, G.1. wires have bonded well with the concrete. It also showed that specimen group D70 has the highest compressive strength among the bamboo column specimens and the highest ductility among all the test specimens. A logarithmic graph was also created from the results, showing that increased culm diameter results in a lower compressive strength.
