This study entitled "ENROLMENT FACTORS IN AGRICULTURE-FISHERY STRAND: BASIS FOR A STRATEGIC MARKETING FRAMEWORK FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN REGION III," sought to identify factors underlying the enrolment of students in the Agriculture-Fishery Arts strand in Region III.
Qualitative, quantitative and exploratory sequential mixed methods were used. Exploratory factor analysis and thematic analysis used to determine the results in this study.
Most of the participants are 18 years old, male, with a family income range from Php 1,000 to 3,000, belong to 9 family members on the average; the fathers and mothers are mostly high school graduates and majority are farmers, no work or job respectively; the schools are mostly located in rural areas; majority graduated under the regular basic education curriculum (RBEC), general average described as outstanding in TLE and MAPEH, satisfactory in Mathematics and very satisfactory in Science and Technology, English, Filipino and Araling Panlipunan; majority had background in agricultural arts and no background in fishery arts in junior high school. The lack of interest, ambitions and wants, and negative feelings about Agriculture-Fishery Arts strand are the factors identified for not enrolling in Agriculture-Fishery Arts strand. Attitude towards agriculture, usefulness of agriculture, perceived value in agriculture are the motivating factors for enrolling in Agriculture-Fishery Arts strand. Strategic marketing framework was formulated. Thematic programs and strategies were indicated in order to address the motivating factors to enroll and of not choosing to enroll in AFA strand in order to increase the enrollment in AFA strand in senior high school-Author's abstract
