Thesis (Undergraduate)
College of Engineering-- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Technological University of the Philippines, 2019.
Eggs are available all year-round to provide not only delicious meals but also as essential ingredient for many baked goods and sauces that would never be the same without them. This study aims to innovate the existing Egg Sorter Machine. The project is focused on sorting the size and quality of duck eggs with a machine which incorporates a double crank mechanism. This is operated by a gear motor then transfers motion to the lifter using a chain and sprockets that picks up four (4) duck eggs from a source and transfers them on top of a counter weight. The counter weight is designed with the specified weight of the three (3) categories of sizes for duck eggs that will help save a lot of time for duck egg farmers and allow them to have a more labor saving way of specifying the duck eggs. The design considered a much more intuitive function of having a date-stamp
allowing the machine to label at most 1200 eggs within one (1) hour and sorted according to its weight with a lifting shaft and be placed onto panels with counter weights of three (3) sizes: Large, Medium, and Small. Through this method, the eggs will be easily categorized and less prone to egg damage or cracking. Author's Abstract
