Dissertation note: College of Science -- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Technological University of the Philippines, 2019. Abstract: Due to continuous change in climate in the Philippines, the demand for air conditioning units have increased. Residential, commercial areas and offices tend to set their air conditioning units at a fixed low temperature which made people experience unbearable cold. The aim of this project is to improve daily lifestyle through automation of air conditioning unit and fan unit that will automatically switch off once it reaches the temperature limit which deemed comfortable. Also, the system will automatically start once a person enters the room or if the temperature measured by the sensors are too high. Users, however, can manually control the units by means of an android application. Through this, it helps users to control their units easily, comfortably, and securely. The software development tools used to develop this system are; MIT App Inventor 2 for the Graphical User Interface of an android application, Python for scripting language, Geany IDE and Google Cloud Console for software components. The results showed that the developed system is functional and accurate based on the test cases. The system was also evaluated by sampled respondents to be highly acceptable in terms of functionality, aesthetics, workability, durability, economy, safety, and marketable. The evaluation result proved that the system is functional, useful and reliable.--Author's Abstract
