Dissertation note: College of Industrial Education Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management Technological University of the Philippines 2017 Abstract: This study examined the effectiveness of the managers of the Manila Adventist Medical Center and Colleges in managing human, material and strategies with the end view of developing a Healthcare Technology Management System model. The study employed descriptive research design with questionnaires (adapted and modified from Samutwong) and documentary analysis as the main instruments. Percentage, means and standard deviation were used in describing the profile of the respondents. Regression analysis was also used to determine the effects of the independent variables to the dependent variables. The questionnaire intended for the department heads is composed of two (2) parts. Part I consisted of demographic profile such as gender, age, civil status, length of service in the company, educational attainment, level of motivation, technology orientation and technology propensity. Part II focused on the managerial skills in terms of technical, human and conceptual. The questionnaire given to the staff consisted of one part which emphasized the technology management performance of the department heads in terms of managing human resources, material resources and strategies. The questionnaire designed for the staff revolved on the effectiveness of department heads in terms of human resources, material resources and strategies. Results show that technology orientation, level of motivation and human relations skills are predictors of managing human resources. Technology orientation regression analysis shows positive beta coefficient of 0.284 with t value of 2.563 and is highly significant at 0.013. Level of motivation regression analysis indicates positive beta coefficient of 0.1185 with t value of 2.594 and is highly significant at 0.019. Human relations skills regression analysis reveals positive beta coefficient 0.194 with t value 2.317 and is highly significant at 0.008.The result also shows that technology orientation, level of motivation and human relations skills account for 75.5% of the variance in managing human resources. This hypothesized relationship is highly significant at 0.002 with an F value of 10.089. Further results show that technology propensity is a predictor of managing material resources. Technology propensity regression analysis shows positive beta coefficient of 0.475 with t value of 5.832 and highly significant a'. 0.001. The result also reveals that technology propensity accounts for 71.6 % of the variance in managing material resources. This hypothesized relationship is highly significant at 0.001 with an F value of 13.740. Technology orientation, technical skills and conceptual skills are predictors of managing strategies. Technology orientation regression analysis shows positive beta coefficient of 0.281 with t value of 3.05 and highly significant at 0.001. Technical skills regression analysis indicates positive beta coefficient of 0.251 with t value of 3.54 and is highly significant at 0.003. Conceptual skills regression analysis reveals positive beta coefficient 0.195 with t value 2.99 and highly significant at 0.050.The result further shows that technology orientation, technical skills and co iceptual skills account for 81.2% of the variance in managing strategies. This hypothesized relationship is highly significant at 0.001 with an F value of 11.072. The technology orientation, level of motivation, human relations skills, technology propensity, technical skills and conceptual skills predict the effectiveness of the managers of Manila Adventist Medical Center and Colleges.
