Dissertation note: College of Science -- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Technological University of the Philippines, 2019 Abstract: "The study was carried out to determine the physical, chemical and the anthropogenic activities in relation to plankton diversity along the areas of Ylang-ylang river estuary of Brgy. San Rafael IV, Noveleta, Cavite. Water samples were collected for five consecutive months starting June 2018 and two sampling sites were considered. Grab and composite sampling method were applied for the collection of water samples and plankton specimens. In assessing the anthropogenic activities near the sampling sites, a survey was conducted. Based on the results, the water temperature in two sampling stations varies between . - . turbidity were 41cm-77cm, pH were 7.02-7.72, DO -3.77mg/L-5.51mg/L,TDS were 1512ppm-5429ppm, salinity were 3ppt-21ppt, conductivity were 4.33 μm/mS -39.37 μm/mS, phosphate were 0.61mg/L-1mg/L, nitrates were 0.401 mg/L-11mg/L and TC were 1.97x105 -8.10x105MPN/100mL.Seventy-six (76) genera of phytoplankton mostly diatoms were identified during the sampling period. Skeletonema a phytoplankton genera is the most abundant in the months of June, August and September. However, in the months of October and November Genus Ceratium is the most abundant. A fifty-one (51) species of zooplankton were identified having Phylum Arthropoda as the most abundant. Mann-Whitney U test revealed that the physico-chemical quality of water of the two sites are not significantly different while Friedman test showed that quality of water including temperature, turbidity (only site 2), conductivity salinity and phosphate fluctuate across five sampling periods. Pearson’s correlation analysis showed that only phosphate has a significant relationship with zooplankton while TDS has a significant relationship with phytoplankton." -- Author's Abstract.
