This study is a development of a mobile-based cat waste monitoring system. The system
was used with weight sensors to detect waste in a litter box. It includes a no-infrared camera
for night vision to monitor the frequency of cat entry and exit in the litter box. This data is
sent to the owner to notify that there is a presence of poop when it reaches 30 grams of the
total weight of the poop. The history of the cat's poof can be viewed also. There is also
data visualization which shows how often the cat eliminates in a day. This helps the owner
with the pet based on the number of times it eliminates its waste. It sends notifications in a
real-time process. The litter box was made with the use of plywood and aluminum materials
with the Raspberry Pi 4, 4 load cell sensor with H7X11 amplifier, and Raspberry Pi Cut
Camera, Furthermore, the mobile app was developed using Sublime as a code editor and
Basic4android (B4A) to develop the mobile app. The Modified Waterfall model was used
in designing the study. The functionality test with different case scenarios was made to
ensure that the litter box components will function properly and to test if the app is also
running correctly. There were 31 respondents composed of online and residents who tested
the system based on the ISO evaluation criteria. The system obtained a weighted mean
average of 4.24, described as “Excellent". This means that the developed system is
Functional, Usable, Performs well, and Efficient.
