Dissertation note: College of Industrial Technology.-- Bachelor of Engineering Technology major in Mechanical Technology: Technological University of the Philippines, 2023. Summary: The study is aimed at assisting Marikina inhabitants. The waste capturing bin with alarm system was created to manage flooding and rubbish accumulation in the drainage system. The prototype is made up of five essential components. The bin's base supports and secures all of the materials inside the drainage. The bin's height is 2 feet, its width is 1.5 feet, and its length is 2.5 feet; it can store/catch all little garbage from the surface above washed away by rainwater with a maximum weight of 5 kg to 10 kg. The float switch detects when the water inside the drainage reaches the 1.75ft maximum level. The panel box is located 260 cm away from the float switch. The warning device/alarm will produce sounds for 3 minutes and then cease, and the resident will hear the sounds to know that the water in the canal has reached the maximum water level for flooding and to take quick action. There is a panel box that consists of the following materials such as battery, solar battery charger and timer, which is attached to the post to protect the wiring system from water that came from natural phenomena like rainwater. The prototype was tested to determine the maximum 5 to 10 kg weight capacity of the bin, bend yield strength testing of the cover, the total voltage consume of by alarm is 1.0v per 5 minutes, and how far the sound of the alarm could hear which is 88.392 meters far. The prototype was evaluated by 30 respondents and obtained a very good rating. The prototype was proven to be functional.
