This thesis entitled “Development of an Augmented Reality Application
(AuRA) in Araling Panlipunan 5” commenced with Araling Panlipunan teachers'
recurring issue in which students' inability to grasp the AP lesson caused them to
get bored and inattentive due to a lack of unique and innovative instructional
materials and strategies to address this concern.
The use of AR technology is the response for augmenting new learning
experiences, particularly in AP subject. This app contains eight modules, with four
modules in each of the first and second quarters. Likewise, each module has eight
distinct images based on the instructional content. The performance of the app
was measured based on its parameters. Grade five pupils performed series of
activities in each module from the beginning to lesson proper to evaluation.
A pretest and posttest were also given to compare the data on how
effective the app based on its educational side. Results of the tests showed that
the app is reliable, and efficient for the user from the installation of application,
downloading of pictures, interaction with the different modules, and answering of
activities; thus, the product is effective IMs as teaching supplement in AP 5. The
evaluation of its acceptability was based on five-point criteria that came out with
an overall weighted mean of 4.52, equivalent to the descriptive rating of highly
acceptable. This study is a significant innovation in the current situation in the field
of education known as the "new normal."
