The escalating population growth has led to a pressing concern in our country: a scarcity of living space. Subdivisions and condominiums are now providing limited, high-priced areas suitable for single families with one to two children. Even most dormitories only offer bedspaces. The ongoing pandemic has exacerbated this issue, particularly for students who must attend their online classes from home.
The aim of this study is to present a solution for optimizing space utilization within our homes, enabling individuals, including students studying drafting, teachers, and office-based workers, to comfortably work and attend online classes. The researcher has designed a versatile piece of furniture, known as Trifunctional Furniture, tailored for use in compact living environments.
To assess the research's reception and practicality, the researcher conducted a survey involving 100 respondents who have a connection to the project. These respondents categorized into three groups, consisting of 25 experts, 25 faculty members, and 50 students. The survey encompassed images and video demonstrations highlighting the project's usage. It evaluated the project based on criteria related to functionality, aesthetics, cost-effectiveness, safety, feasibility, and durability.
Overall, the research findings underscore the broad acceptance of Trifunctional Furniture, primarily attributed to its effectiveness in providing users with a versatile and space-efficient solution. This innovative furniture piece seamlessly transforms into a central table, dining table, and drafting table, fulfilling a trifecta of functions to cater to the diverse needs of its users.
The research aims to identify the most efficient way to optimize furniture for space utilization and introduces a Trifunctional Furniture design made of a steel frame and acrylic tabletop for both elegance and durability. The study's key findings and conclusions are as follows: The prototype is suitable for small living spaces, as it developed with aesthetics, functionality, and space-saving in mind, while also being affordable and robust. The prototype received positive ratings, suggesting it is beneficial for students working from home and individuals with limited living space. Respondents found the prototype to be "Excellent" according to a specific set of criteria, indicating its high quality and effectiveness.
