Cassava is one of the primary root crops in the Philippines being a good source of
carbohydrates among staple crops. However, peeling cassava could be tedious and time-
consuming especially for high volume processing. The Cassava Peeling Machine was
intended for small-scale feeds industry supplier of Torno Agro in Brgy. Ascomo Guagua,
Pampanga. The peeling machine was designed to peel the outer layer of tuber to be used
as animal feeds and fertilizer and to ease farmers from the manual method of peeling. It
was done by constructing the machine with a rotating cylindrical drum that contains
nylon brushes which is responsible for peeling operation. Based on the capability and
efficiency testing of the machine, it was found out that it has a maximum peeling
capacity of 10 kilograms for 15-20 cm long cassava using the average speed of 80 rpm.
Further, the prototype was evaluated by thirty (30) evaluators and obtained a rating of
―Excellent‖ with an overall mean of 4.59. It signifies that the developed cassava peeling
machine could provide a more efficient means of peeling with lower tuber losses
compared to the manual peeling machine.
