Sustainability in supply chain operations has become increasingly crucial in the restaurant
industry, particularly in Metro Manila's fast-food sector. This study examines the
relationship between supply chain operations and sustainable supply chain practices as
determinants of supply chain performance in ArmyNavy restaurants. The study focused
on four key areas of supply chain operations: planning, sourcing, making, and delivery, as
well as sustainable practices such as product design, purchasing, logistics, and packaging.
A quantitative-descriptive approach was employed using a non-probability purposive
sampling technique, involving 56 ArmyNavy restaurant managers in Metro Manila. The
survey included 50 questions, with Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.920. Data were
analyzed using Pearson’s moment correlation and multiple regression analysis revealed a
significant positive relationship between supply chain operations and sustainable
practices. Sustainable product design was found to have the most significant impact on
supply chain performance. Other sustainability practices, such as purchasing, logistics,
and packaging, showed weaker correlations. Multiple regression analysis indicated that
plan operations significantly influenced supply chain performance, while sourcing,
making, and delivery operations did not. Based on these findings, the study suggests that
businesses prioritize sustainable product design and enhance other sustainability practices
to improve supply chain performance. By focusing on continuous improvement in both
operational efficiency and sustainability, ArmyNavy and similar establishments can
minimize environmental impact, enhance performance, and achieve long-term success in
the competitive fast-food industry.
