Most studies that are commonly seen on the Internet were always on the perspectives of
the customers regarding the design of any restaurant, suggesting techniques and strategies
to use in order to improve customer satisfaction. Studies about the perspective of the
employees while working and the effect of workplace design can rarely be seen. This study
aimed to propose a development plan for employees on their work experience in a casual
dining restaurant. This study focuses on the spatial layout, ambiance, lighting, and theme
of a casual dining restaurant and provides attributes for work performance such as task
performance, adaptive performance, contextual performance, and counterproductive work
behavior. A quantitative research method was used, utilizing the purposive sampling
technique with 100 respondents from employees working in a casual dining restaurant in
Metro Manila. A total of 46 questions were given, yielding a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient
of 0.941. The analysis was done through Pearson’s r Correlation and Analysis of Variance
(ANOVA). Based on the findings there is no significant relationship between the
workplace design and the demographic profile of the respondents. Furthermore, the
significant relationship between the workplace design dimension towards employee
individual performance are all positive correlations indicating that there is a significant
relationship between two variables at the 0.05 level. In light of these findings, the proposed
employee performance development plan serves as a valuable guide for enhancing the
performance and skills of each employee.
