One of the major problems of the blind is the lack of technological innovations to aid them.
The purpose of the study was to develop a Braille Device with an android application that
can make calls and send text messages while utilizing speech synthesizer in a portable way,
so it can be used anywhere. The Android-based Braille interface for the Blind was
developed using Arduino as the microcontroller and the Call and SMS Android application
using Java Language. The system’s compatibility was tested in terms of Android version,
it can run at Android 5.0 Lollipop version up to latest. The system’s portability was
determined that it can fit a minimum of 2.7” smartphone width to 4.0” to use it anywhere.
The researchers had conducted interviews from the students of the Philippine National
School for the Blind on their current stand in technological communication and the current
technology used for communication and came up with a solution that would be cost-
efficient and has a good approach to the blind users. The all over the meaning of the project
is 3.87 which is equivalent to “Very good” concluded that the project would be beneficial
to Blind people as it would be faster and easier to use.
