Summary: The researchers’ initiative at TUP Manila aims to develop a remote-controlled scale model car with an electric lifting mechanism designed specifically for SUV’s. The prototype uses a 2-ton mechanical screw-type bottle jack, which is sufficient to lift the side of the vehicle to a height of 7 inches, as the ground clearance of SUVs typically ranges from 10 to 12 inches. Most of the vehicles in the modern day are equipped with a manual scissor jack for lifting, but many drivers find it hard especially females due to the physical effort required. Another drawback comprises the fact that manual jacks often result in injuries or musculoskeletal disorders; they may fail without proper care. Because of these hurdles, an electric scale model car was developed which would feature a remote-controlled lifting mechanism. A key feature of the device is its remote-controlled operation, eliminating the need for manual cranking. This makes it ideal for individuals who may have difficulty with physical tasks or for those who do not regularly perform lifting tasks. The device is equipped with a wheel that easily rolls under the vehicle with minimal effort, controlled remotely. Like traditional car jacks, this device can be used in various scenarios for vehicle maintenance. The prototype can lift the front side of an SUV in 4.08 seconds and the rear side in 5.12 seconds. Based on the evaluation conducted with 50 selected respondents, the prototype received a highly satisfactory rating.
