Dissertation note: College of Engineering.-- Bachelor of science in mechanical engineering: Technological University of the Philippines, 2024. Summary: Laboratory experiments serve an important role in bridging the gap between theory and practice. The Mechanical Engineering student at the Technological University of the Philippines- Manila whose yet to experience operating and handling of a Prony Disk Brake Dynamometer, a piece of equipment required to complete various experiments and conclude an activity involving engine performance calculations. As a proposed solution to the problems stated, the rescarchers designed and built a Prony Disk Brake Dynamometer for calculating engine performance. This project study is focused on the development of a gasoline engine test rig capable of collecting data through experiments. The researchers were able to come up with two experiments suitable for the designed machinc, namely: Dctermining Brake Power and Torque at varying RPM; No Load and Full Load Conditions. These two experiments highlight the performance curve of the engine in varying rpm at No-load and Full load condition: Brake power and torque. At No-Load condition, it served as a based line reference for the engine performance under its own resistance, it is crucial for understanding the engines efticiency and frictional losses. On the other hand, Full load condition provides valuable data for further optimization of the engine such as performance and engine design, this condition showcases comprehensive understand on the engine's ability to deliver maximumn output power. As a proposcd solution to address the requirement stated, the researchers designed and fabricatecd a Prony Disk Brake Dynamometer intended for engine performance calculation. The subject for testing for the Gasoline Engine Test Rig is DuroMax 7.5 HP/ GX 200 gasoline cngine that is connected to the Prony disk brake machine via universal joint. The Prony Disk Brake assembly consists of a momnent arm that extends from the disk brake caliper to a load
