Dissertation note: College of Industrial Technology.-- Bachelor of technology major in electrical engineering technology: Technological University of the Philippines, 2019. Summary: Mushroom growing can make occupations both in semi-urban and rural areas. However, cultivation of mushroom is labor intensive, Since, filling and pressing of mushroom fruiting bags are manually done. Most of the mushroom cultivators encounter problems such as manually mixing of substrates and its supplements and pressing the mixture into the fruiting bag. The developed Substrate Mixer and Filling Machine was designed, fabricated and tested to improve the production process of the mushroom development industry and lessen manual process. It has detachable ribbon blender for the mixing process, cylinder tube assembly made by stainless pipes, butterfly valve used to fill bags, and plate-type pressing mechanism. Moreover, Test results prove that the prototype can mix 10 kg up to 20kg of substrates with an average mean of 77.78% faster than the manual operation and 88.67% for filling and pressing that can produce 250-300 fruiting bags per working hours. The prototype was evaluated by 30 respondents composed of mushroom cultivators and technical expert with an overall mean of 4.47 and a descriptive rating of “Very Good”. This signifies that the prototype can be useful for the mushroom cultivators.
