Gasoline engine is a machine used to convert other forms of energy into mechanical
energy, they are used as a main source of power in vehicles or any mechanical devices. As
mechanical engineering learners it is imperative to have hands-on experience in evaluating
engine performance and in-depth knowledge in theoretical principle of engines and
combustion. That is why the test bed will be designed and fabricated as laboratory equipment,
the experiments described in the study comply with the requirements stated in CMO No. 97
series of 2017. The laboratory experiments include evaluation of engine performance of a 4-
stroke one cylinder gasoline engine at varying throttle openings and measuring its specific fuel
consumption using different fuel blends. All measurement devices are integrated in a control
panel, which facilitates data control and acquisition, and the evaluation criteria will ensure the
reliability of the test bed and the gathered data.
