Dissertation note: College of Science.-- Bachelor of science in computer science: Technological University of the Philippines, 2025. Summary: This study fills the gap of the limited access of Tagalog children’s literature by developing Ang Tipo Kong Kwento, an A.I powered web application that generates personalized stories for its users that is appropriate for ages ranging from 6 to 9 years old. Using a fine-tuned Tagalog GPT-2 model trained on a curated dataset of multiple Filipino stories such as Alamat, Kwentong Bayan, and Pabula, the system enables parents and educators of young children to create a captivating, engaging, and age-appropriate stories to read and help with language development of children. The system is built using React for the front end of the web application, Python Flask for the backend, and lastly PostgreSQL for the management of the database. The web application also has features that further enhances user experience like interactive reading modes, a soundboard, PDF download, and of course the customization of the story. We followed the Agile Scrum Methodology and adhered to the ISO/IEC 25010 standards for the development and evaluation of this study. It achieved very to highly acceptable upon the end of evaluation for its Functional Suitability, Performance Efficiency, Compatibility, Security, Usability, Portability, and Maintainability. Even though the system is able to make stories that follow the users input we noticed limitations such as the reliance on a stable internet connection, and inconsistent story quality. The study has shown that it has promise to help the lack of Tagalog educational resources with the use of A.I but refinement on its story generation and a more diverse multimedia would further cement its potential. Ang Tipo Kong Kwento is a start for the next level of the use of technology in education to aid and broaden Filipino literacy through the use of A.I in storytelling.
