Dissertation note: College of Industrial Education.-- Bachelor of science in industrial education major in information and communication technology: Technological University of the Philippines, 2025. Summary: This study aimed to address the challenges faced by Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education Major in Information and Communication Technology (BSIE-ICT) students at the Technological University of the Philippines – Manila, particularly in learning JavaScript of basic front-end web development. The objective was to design, develop, and evaluate a game-based learning platform named PolyWeb to expand students’ skills and knowledge in JavaScript. A design- based research methodology was employed, consisting of four phases: problem identification, design and development, iterative refinement and evaluation, and synthesis of design principles. Iterative testing involved 50 third-year BSIE-ICT students and subject matter experts to ensure the platform met educational needs. The findings revealed that students experienced significant challenges in understanding core programming logic and relied heavily on informal learning resources. However, data indicated that PolyWeb effectively improved engagement, motivation, and comprehension. Quantitative results based on ISO/IEC 25010 showed a weighted mean score of 4.63, reflecting a “highly satisfied” level of usability and effectiveness. These outcomes demonstrate the platform’s value in addressing instructional gaps and enhancing digital learning in JavaScript. The study contributes to the development of future game-based instructional materials in ICT education.
