Dissertation note: College Of Architecture and Fine Arts.-- Bachelor of fine arts major in advertising: Technological University of the Philippines, 2025. Summary: The initiative CreOcean aims to promote the conservation of coral reefs and marine ecosystems in the Philippines through fostering collaborative mural creation and engagement on social media. Located in the coral triangle, the Philippines prides on some of the globe’s most diverse marine ecosystem, but its coral reefs are threatened by pollution, overfishing, and climate change. This initiative tackles these issues by engaging local communities in the creation of murals that emphasize the beauty and vulnerability of coral reefs. Incorporating marine pollutants as art materials, the mural will emphasize that conservation begins with tackling waste pollution. To extend the project’s reach, a social media initiative will promote murals, utilizing platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to raise awareness about ocean preservation. As an educational tool, the campaign will include coastal cleanup, mural making, a 3D animation. Through this strategy, the project seeks to increase awareness, engage communities, and motivate action for marine conservation, ultimately cultivating a shared sense of responsibility for safeguarding coral reefs and marine biodiversity. By combining otcreativity, community engagement, and social media, CreOcean presents a distinctive, inclusive method for conservation, bringing attention that safeguarding the ocean starts with united, local efforts.
