The research entitled “HABOEAN: A Proposed Piña Weaving Interactive
Cultural and Educational Hub in Aklan” aimed to conserve and promote the Piña
Weaving not just in Aklan but all over the Philippines that fosters creativity,
preserve tradition, and promote community engagement.
As piña weaving is one of the cultures of Aklan province, there is still a
declination and lack of support to further promote its significance, and not just a
simple clothing or product. The people behind piña weaving are working together
to strengthen it and to promote it further. Because of their perseverance to get the
spotlight for their piña weaving culture, it was recognized as an Intangible Cultural
Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO).
The research established an adequate basis for establishing the Piña
Weaving Interactive Cultural and Educational Hub in Aklan through analyzation of
the site with consideration of the legal bases and government laws. This research
proposal utilized a descriptive and quantitative methodology. Its respondents were
chosen to obtain genuine answers to assist in the analysis of the research. After
gathering and collecting all the data and interviews, it is thoroughly studied and
analyzed to obtain a feasible result.
The research study must be a feasible study that includes the financial and
legal viability, as well as the design proposal which serves as the basis of the representation of the Proposed Piña Weaving Interactive Cultural and Educational
Hub’s concept.
It is also presents the analyses used, like spatial and behavioral analysis,
as well as the list of end-users of the mentioned proposed cultural hub.
Furthermore, flow diagrams were also included for the better presentation of the
flow and movement of the people/users and vehicles.
The proposed Piña Weaving Interactive Cultural and Educational Hub aims
to provide a centralized place where the stories behind the culture of piña weaving,
it’s importance and process will be seen. In this way, it will be known by the visitors
which will lead them to further understand its value when they visit Aklan, realizing
that the Aklan piña weaving has a more significant value and not just a piece of
fabric.
