The development of a multipurpose handheld electromagnetic cleaning tool with interchangeable nozzles is an innovative solution aimed at improving the cleaning process around machinery in the College of Industrial Technology. This study focused on designing and creating a device capable of collecting both magnetic and non-magnetic chips more efficiently and safely, reducing time consumption and minimizing the risk of injury. The prototype is composed of several major components, including coils that utilize electromagnetic principles, a carbon battery, a selector switch, and a vacuum system. The design allows users to switch between collecting magnetic and non-magnetic particles, offering flexibility depending on the material. The device underwent a series of tests and evaluations to determine its collection capability, battery performance, and user satisfaction. Results showed that the tool could collect mixed debris up to 60 grams effectively, bolts at distances of 15 grams and sustained suction performance without clogging issues. Battery tests demonstrated reliable operation for up to 60 minutes, with progressive charging observed over 120 minutes. Thirty respondents, composed of students and professors, assessed the tool based on its functionality, safety, and efficiency. The device received an overall rating of 4.49, indicating an excellent level of performance.
Results showed that the cleaning tool effectively addressed common issues in workshop maintenance and can serve as a reliable solution for small-scale industrial applications.
