<br/><br/> The electrical maintenance should know and understand the basic principle of maintaining railway electrical facilities. Understanding the potential source of defects may prevent greater damage to electrical equipment by implementing appropriate actions that may avoid the occurrence of these sources. Also having this understanding and knowledge on basic principles of electrical will make working on railway electrical facilities safe and efficient.<br/>Furthermore, major accidents might happen if railway electrical facilities fail and this might cause serious injuries and deaths, not just the railway personnel but also of the passengers and other people living within the vicinity of the railway.<br/>To prevent this from happening, frequent maintenance of railway electrical facilities is needed. Moreover, this will prolong the initial service life of the equipment.<br/>During the maintenance of railway electrical facilities, the railway electrical maintenance personnel must ensure a safe working environment. Also, they should be aware of their safety without relying on others. Safety working conditions have been discussed on the departmental competency and other topics in Electrical and have been reiterated on this topic for the maintenance personnel to keep in mind that their safety is the utmost priority while doing maintenance work.<br/>Lastly, electrical maintenance personnel should also have a record of all maintenance activities done to railway electrical facilities to track their condition and for future reference.
