This paper aimed at developing the design, the creation, the testing, and the evaluation of an IoT-based touchless vending machine system to enhance cleanliness, convenience, and user experience in public spaces, specifically for restroom needs. Physical contact with the machine is the most common in traditional vending machines, and this only helps to raise the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses. Touchless technology is popular in several fields, but there is no evidence yet on its use in vending machines for public hygiene items. This work will fill that gap through the use of QR code scanning and the PayMongo API, enabling secure and instant transactions. The purpose of this work is to advance the research for developing an IoT-based touchless vending machine system that creates QR codes for product selection and payment, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience. The system is embedded in an Arduino-compatible microcontroller and a web platform that is connected to the PayMongo payment system. The research included functionality, accuracy, and security testing processes in which the performance metrics of the system were determined with factors like QR code scanning, product selection, proceeding to the payment page, payment verification, product dispensing, item dispensing accuracy, website compatibility, and error handling. Every single test was passed, thus proving the whole system is working correctly. The ISO 25010:2023 criteria were used in the evaluation, with a focus on functional suitability, performance efficiency, compatibility, usability, and user satisfaction. The grand weighted mean of 4.49, with a descriptive rating of “Very Good”, indicates high user satisfaction and effectiveness in providing a touchless, sanitary vending experience. This study helps to advance touchless vending technology by providing an efficient, secure, and user-friendly option for public areas.
