The demand for pullers, for pulling cylinder liners, has been on a daily increase, propelling
massive production of pullers to meet this demand. The difficulties associated with the
traditional method of pulling cylinder liners are quite enormous. In this research, the
hydraulic cylinder liner puller, which is a special tool, was redesigned and constructed to
improve the processes involved in extracting the cylinder liner. The puller uses the
hydraulic principle to pull the cylinder liner, and it consists of some components namely,
seven specific components, the hydraulic bottle jack, rod assembly, plate assembly frame
or base, hook, stand, nut, and washer. The materials used for construction are quite
affordable and available. The average time of conventional removal of Isuzu C190 is 10min
and 53sec, and for 4BE1 is 11min and 49sec. Meanwhile, using the special tool, the average
time of removing the cylinder liner of C190 is 3min/58sec and for 4BE1 is 2min/40sec.
The developed prototype obtained a mean of 4.30, which means very acceptable. The
evaluation results was in terms of aesthetics, durability, economy, functionality,
workability, and safety.
